Slack: turn the customer’s objection into the opening scene

Sandwich turned its initial skepticism about Slack into the launch film’s story: a real team, in its own office, tries a product it did not think it needed. The documented choices offer a useful model for making an unfamiliar B2B service legible through a visible work problem and a credible change of mind.

Figma: give the marketing team useful page-building blocks

Corey Ward’s account of Figma’s Gatsby and Sanity marketing site describes a page builder that gave editors room to assemble campaign pages, alongside forms, localized content, and a searchable blog. The case points to a practical design challenge: let marketers make meaningful page choices while keeping structure, accessibility, and publishing behavior governed by a component system. A proposed product-section block and launch-page acceptance task show how to turn that balance into an editorial workflow.

Airbnb: make real guest photographs carry the story

In 2021, Airbnb introduced Made Possible by Hosts, a video series built from photographs of guests staying in host homes. The campaign framed hosting as the setting for meaningful time together. Its documented approach offers a useful lesson in turning still images into an experience narrative—and a practical model for a smaller hospitality brand planning its own image-led story.

DuckDuckGo: plan a video family around the tests

Demo Duck’s work with DuckDuckGo combined social-native concepts, direct product messaging, a remake of an earlier comparison film, and extensive deliverable versioning. The documented production shows how a video family can support experimentation. A proposed variant matrix makes each comparison more interpretable by changing one creative dimension at a time.

How2GetIt: carry one useful answer from search to email

This original concept study proposes a path from an item-acquisition search to an optional email follow-up for How2GetIt. The illustrative page and three-message sequence are proposals; no newsletter feature, subscriber list, test or lead lift is documented.

LEGO: let the product’s logic shape the film world

LEGO’s 2019 Rebuild the World launch built a film around familiar play rules: a rabbit and hunter move through a world shaped by LEGO-like transformations, oversized objects and toy-derived characters, animals and vehicles. That product logic gives the campaign a coherent visual language across formats. A proposed review method shows how production teams can protect that connection through continuity, short edits and accessible versions.

Mozilla: give the identity a rule people can use

Mozilla’s 2017 identity work addressed a recognition problem: the nonprofit organization was often associated mainly with Firefox. Developed with Johnson Banks, its system paired a URL-inspired mark and Zilla type with shared rules for typography and bounding boxes, while leaving room for varied imagery and color. The project offers a useful lesson in designing for consistency without demanding sameness—and in treating public feedback as input that still requires editorial judgment.

Renault: use field data to choose the website work

Renault and fifty-five connected real-user performance measurements with analytics to examine how landing-page speed related to engagement across markets. The case shows how a large observational dataset can guide where to investigate, while a disciplined follow-up experiment is needed before claiming that a speed change caused more leads.
